What will I learn?

Overview

The Clinical Dermatology MSc is an advanced study programme for medical graduates who wish to undertake a period of postgraduate study in dermatology. You will gain comprehensive knowledge and understanding of dermatological diseases and enhance your skills and knowledge of the scientific basis of clinical dermatology. The study pathway also includes a critical evaluation of dermatological literature on a specialist subject. The course includes teaching in a diverse range of clinical and Dermatopathology sessions.

Course detail

The Clinical Dermatology MSc will provide you with the opportunities to develop and demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of dermatological diseases. The study pathway is made up of a combination of observing clinical sessions, histopathology glass slides teaching sessions, lectures, dedicated workshops, seminars and conferences by members of the faculty as well as invited prominent speakers, creating a demanding and stimulating learning experience. You will study three 60-credit modules throughout the year including theoretical dermatology and clinical dermatology, plus a research project with a dissertation related to clinical dermatology to complete the 180-credit advanced course.

Teaching and assessment

You will be taught through a combination of lectures, seminars and self study. Your performance will be assessed through a combination of coursework and written/practical examinations. We will use a delivery method that will ensure students have a rich, exciting experience from the start. Face to face teaching will be complemented and supported with innovative technology so that students also experience elements of digital learning and assessment.

Career prospects

Some of our graduates have pursued further higher qualifications such as Foundation Programmes and Specialist Training in Dermatology in the UK. Previous graduates have pursued further training in dermatology and found employment in as dermatology consultants in the UK and overseas.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students who have completed a Bachelor degree from a recognised institution in the United States of America will be considered. Grades may vary depending upon the course chosen.

For international students

A medical qualification from a recognised university and current clinical experience of either 6–12 months in dermatology or 3–4 years practising medicine at post-registration level. Overseas students will be required to demonstrate IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill. TOEFL iBT score of 92 overall with a minimum of 23 in writing and 20 in each of the other skills.
