Overview

Run in conjunction with the Nottingham University Business School, this innovative postgraduate course provides you with an exciting opportunity to investigate communication in the context of entrepreneurship and business. The programme will introduce you to the multidisciplinary dimensions of professional communication, exploring in detail how linguistic analysis can illuminate and enhance communication in businesses and a range of other workplaces.

The principle of language study we have established at Nottingham combines theoretical and ideological dimensions with highly practical applications. The course explores the role of communication in business-related human affairs using a variety of approaches, ranging from discourse analysis and interactional sociolinguistics to corpus linguistics.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students offering a Bachelor's degree from an American university are welcome to apply for a Masters programme. For most programmes we look for a GPA of at least 3.0. Students need to have IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.

For international students

Applicants should have a 2.1 (upper 2nd class honours undergraduate degree or international equivalent) in English language/literature, linguistics, communications studies, journalism or a related arts or humanities subject. IELTS: 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in each element). TOEFL (IBT): 87 (minimum 20 in Speaking and 19 in all other elements).
