What will I learn?

Overview

Currently accredited by both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), this practice-led course has been developed in response to the rapid cultural changes within the global construction industry.

It recognises the growing demand for professionals to stay abreast of new, innovative and non-adversarial approaches to project management, able to address internal constraints and dynamic external situations.

Coventry University has been educating construction professionals for over half a century. Our courses are developed with direct input from members of our current Civil Engineering and Building Advisory Boards including Hyder, Arup, MottMacold and Geotechnical Ltd.

This course is accredited and recognised by The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

Course information

The course seeks to prepare you to effectively manage projects and the budgets surrounding the development of the built environment. Encompassing physical, legal, economic and technological factors, you should gain an advanced understanding and knowledge of the theory and practice of procurement, construction economics, cost management and best practice project management within the specific context of the construction industry.

Upon successful completion, this degree should prepare you for a rewarding career as a chartered surveyor or project management surveyor.

The complexity and scale of modern construction projects requires construction professionals with expertise in construction management, who can work either on site or within an office to ensure they are delivered safely, within budget, on deadline and to the highest possible quality.

Entry requirements

For international students

To enter the course you should have a minimum of a second class honours degree in an appropriate discipline. This course requires IELTS of 6.5 overall, with no component lower than 5.5. Pre-sessional English is available if required.
