What will I learn?

The MRes in Creative Industries offers you the opportunity to undertake in-depth study in an area of interest to you while developing your skills in research. You will spend one third of your time in the taught element of your course, covering your chosen subject and training in research methodology, and the remaining two-thirds in your personalised research dissertation. The Research Preparation and Development unit has a number of assessments including a project proposal, literature review and reflective practice. The Research Project unit assessments include a presentation and a dissertation. The MRes will give you research methods training and skills that are relevant to your current and future employment. It will also facilitate the achievement of your further career progression through engagement with continuing professional development activities. The MRes in Creative Industries will place you in a strong position to pursue doctoral or research related roles as a career. You'll graduate from the course with valuable research skills and training, which will place you in a strong position to secure employment across private and public sector industries. Career opportunities include: Research-related careers, PhD study, Architectural or creative practice, Curation, Design, Teaching, Theatre Performance.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

For entry to our postgraduate Master's programmes, you'll usually need to have a Bachelor's degree with a GPA of 2.6 /4 or above from a recognised Higher Education institution. Students need a minimum of IELTS band 6.5–7.0, with no component below 6.0.

For international students

An upper second-class honours degree in a related subject. You will be asked to write a short research proposal upon receipt of your application. Applicants may be subject to interview. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component score below 6.0.
