What will I learn?

THE COURSE

This programme enables students to progress from the FdSc qualification to a full BSc Honours Degree in Ecology and Environmental Management.

Academic and industry knowledge and understanding and skills gained will be developed and applied to a greater depth and breadth. Students will explore and analyse current and future issues and trends and apply their learning in the field.

The programmes aims to:

  • To develop students' independent research skills and consolidate relevant data gathering and analysis through the completion of a dissertation
  • To develop students' understanding of ecosystem services, particularly with regard to the monitoring and management of freshwater habitats
  • To provide students with the skills to utilise technology in the assessment of landscapes, habitats and wildlife management
  • To develop students' critical awareness of global issues and solutions in global conservation biology
  • To provide students with the ability to become effective project managers within the sector.

Careers

Careers are available with ecological consultancies, conservation non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the UK and abroad, public bodies such as the Environment Agency, Natural England and local authorities, plus many more.
