Our MSc Financial Mathematics will give you the skills required to apply quantitative training to financial analysis.

If you have a strong undergraduate background in mathematics, economics, finance (or other programmes such as engineering, computer science and physics with a strong mathematical component) this programme will help you develop a specialisation in financial mathematics. Financial mathematics is a highly specialised and rapidly growing area requiring a strong mathematical background alongside appropriate training in finance and computer programming. This MSc degree is both technical and practical. Students will acquire in-depth mathematical knowledge and skills applied to the area of finance, advanced skills and knowledge in computational and programming techniques as well as experience of extended project work.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students need to have a 2:1 Honours degree in Mathematics or a programme with advanced mathematical components. Students need to have an IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band is equivalent to: TOEFL: 80 overall with no less than 19 in Reading, 19 in Listening, 21 in Speaking and 19 in Writing; Pearson Test of English (PTE): Academic 64 with no less than 59 in all four skills; Cambridge English (exams taken from 2015): Advanced – minimum overall score of 169, with no less than 162 in any component.
