What will I learn?

The History of Medicine MA will take you from classical antiquity to the 21st century, covering classical antiquity, medieval, early modern and modern periods.

This MA generally embraces a longue durée chronology approach. It offers an opportunity to study a range of topics from various places around the world, including the periods:

You'll be taught by staff with a wide range of interests. Their expertise includes subjects like:

European history

American history

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students should have a four-year bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA ranging from 2.8 to 3.2 out of 4.0 (admissions criteria will vary depending on which course they are applying to).

For international students

A 2:1 honours degree, or international equivalent. We will also consider applicants on an individual basis with lower or non-standard qualifications. English Language Requirements - IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.5 in writing, and 5.5 in all other sub-skills).; TOEFL 90 overall (with a minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking, and 22 in writing).; Pearsons 62 overall (with a minimum of 62 in writing, and 52 in all other sub-skills).
