What will I learn?

The International First Year (IFY) provides an intensive combination of first-year university subjects with extra study and language skills. The IFY is the first year of the three-year International Incorporated Bachelors (IIB) degree.

Upon successful completion of the IFY, you will continue to the second year of study at DMU.

Engineering and Computing

The Engineering and Computing IFY gives you the perfect opportunity to start your engineering or computing degree with access to all of DMU’s cutting-edge facilities.

Study the way in which electronics and computing are used to control the behaviour of real-world systems such as cars, buildings and aeroplanes and use your creativity and problem-solving skills to solve challenges set by tutors.

On successful completion of the Engineering or Computing IFY students can then continue onto the second year of one of the DMU undergraduate courses listed below, according to the route they have chosen.

On this course you will:

  • Discover how design plays a crucial role in successful engineering projects and how to use computer-aided design programs.
  • Gain a broad understanding of key principles in engineering and computing
  • Learn the study skills necessary to continue onto your second year with confidence
