What will I learn?

Course overview

You gain a grounding in the two disciplines of management and marketing in an international context. And develop an understanding of the global influences on business and marketing, together with the ability to analyse marketing management decisions in an international setting.

Marketing is at the heart of any organisation and is the process of understanding consumer journeys, and building and maintaining relationships with them. You explore the fundamentals of strategic marketing in practice, working as a consultant through Teesside Marketing Clinic.

If you are a business graduate or a graduate from a related discipline and want to pursue a career in management or marketing, this is the course for you. It will also appeal if you are already working in a marketing environment and looking to develop a management or marketing career, but do not yet have significant experience.

The applied element allows you to develop practice-based solutions to real-world problems. You take on a consultancy role, working on projects or internships, identifying opportunities and ideas, before going on to present strategic solutions to the client. You develop personal and professional knowledge, skills and behaviours through a process of self-reflection on your practice.

How you learn

You learn through a variety of methods both in the classroom and also in workshops. The lectures/workshops are designed to enable you to apply the theoretical approaches you have learned into live and practical situations relevant to industry's needs today.

Modules are taught via lectures, seminars, practical workshops, group work and practise in the Marketing Clinic. Teaching staff adopt a range of web-based technologies to deliver module content and provide feedback.

How you are assessed

Assessment methods vary according to the module studied and may include essays, report writing, presentations, formal examinations and course work.

Career opportunities

You graduate with the knowledge, experience and confidence to succeed in a management role on a global scale. You acquire a unique mix of skills to work in roles including global strategic management, leadership and management, managing people, operations, and finance, or you could even strike out in business on your own. By specialising in marketing you could also secure roles in strategic marketing management.
