Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants will be considered for most postgraduate courses with a good US bachelor’s degree from a recognised University. Students who don’t meet the requirements for direct entry may opt to undertake a graduate preparation programme. Students successfully completing INTO City’s Graduate Diploma or Kaplan International College London’s Pre-Master’s Course at the required level will have guaranteed entry into City’s postgraduate degrees. English language requirements will vary from course to course and the information on this page is only intended to be a general guide.

For international students

You should have a first or upper second-class honours (or equivalent) degree in politics, the social sciences, humanities or law. However, we also welcome applications from those with substantial experience in human rights organisations, NGOs, social services, journalism and other related sectors. Applicants whose first language you will need the following qualification: IELTS: an overall score of 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 for each sub-test). TOEFL iBT: 72 overall with no less than 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking.
