MA Diplomacy University of Reading

Our MA Diplomacy course provides academic training for prospective and practising diplomats, civil servants, staff of NGOs or academics.

You will benefit from practitioners who contribute valuable insight into current challenges and processes, as you combine the theory and practice of contemporary diplomacy.

Over the course of the programme you will develop transferable skills, including research, policy making, and interpersonal skills and will complete a specialist research dissertation in consultation with an expert supervisor.

Collaborate with academics who have personal experience of public policy, government departments and international organisations (including NATO), or working as advisers to government (including in the UK, the US, France, Italy and Germany).

WHAT CAREER CAN YOU HAVE?

Our MA Diplomacy course aims to prepare our international and versatile student body both for the application of academic ideas to pressing real-world problems and for further graduate study.

Our graduates have gone into many walks of life, from UK Ambassador, military officer, members of the SAS or intelligence analyst, to banker, political analyst, university lecturer, staff college lecturer, journalist, official in an international organisation, or policeman. Others have gone into industry, teaching, local government administration, work for charitable foundations or parliament. Our courses give both a deep understanding of the specific subject matter and a range of transferable skills that can be utilised in a wide variety of future careers.
