What will I learn?

If you are interested in the development of dance education, a comprehensive understanding of the science underpinning the art form is a must. This innovative programme - the only one of its kind in Scotland - offers just that, giving you the scientific theory and specialist skills that will inspire you to push the frontiers of dance and dance education.

How will I learn?

Through a multi-disciplinary blend of theory and practice, you will learn to prepare dancers to improve performance, explore the physiological and developmental issues that relate to dance education and training and develop awareness of changing trends.

Career opportunities

Whether you are a recent graduate or a mid-career professional, this programme will prepare you for further research, which can be channelled into an academic career or used to advance your performing, teaching or educational career. The transferable skills you gain, such as communication and project management, will also be valuable in enhancing any career options.

If you choose the GTCS-accredited Teaching Qualification (TQs) pathway, this degree will enable you to apply for GTCS registration and teach in schools with a subject specialism of dance across 3-18 years.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

You should have an undergraduate degree from a recognised university or college with a minimum 3.25 GPA. Graduate entry to Medicine and Veterinary Medicine - For entry to most postgraduate taught or research degrees, the minimum requirement for students from the USA is an undergraduate degree from a recognised university or college with a minimum 3.25 GPA. Applications for graduate entry to the MBChB will be considered for the programme with: Pass in a 4-year undergraduate degree with a science major and a GPA of 3.4 or better, plus an overall MCAT score of 508 to include a minimum of: Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems - 128 ; Psychological, Social and Biological Foundations of Behaviour - 126 ; Chemistry and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems - 128; Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills - 126. Applicants must also take the UCAT. Veterinary Medicine: a minimum of at least two years of a pre-veterinary or science course at College; a minimum of one year (two semesters or three terms) in Chemistry; additional courses in Biology, Physics and/or Mathematics; a minimum grade point average of 3.4, with more than 3.0 in science courses which have been completed. Please refer the university website for details of the English Language requirements for entry to individual postgraduate degree programmes.

For international students

A UK 2:1 honours degree, or its international equivalent, in a relevant discipline. IELTS: total 6.5 (at least 6.0 in each module). TOEFL-iBT (including Special Home Edition): total 92 (at least 20 in each module). We do not accept TOEFL MyBest Score to meet our English language requirements.
