Do you want an acting career? Are you interested in learning more about this exciting and expanding area of performance? If so, why not join us at our new creative arts centre at Hillsborough campus and join a vibrant and exciting course. Validated by Sheffield Hallam University, this course allows students to explore the different elements of performing arts with a focus on acting. Students will be given the opportunity to create performances for a variety of audiences, and to forge links with local professionals in the arts community. The aim of the course is to provide students with a broad based area of study in the field of performing arts. It will help to both extend knowledge of drama and to expand abilities and experiences as an actor. It will develop appropriate transferable skills, self-awareness and the capacity to engage in reflective practice and develop specialist knowledge and skills.The course will include modules on practitioner skills, community arts, contextual studies and performance projects and will provide a foundation for a range of careers in the performing arts and within community arts organisations.Students can expect to spend their time on the course as follows:Lectures/seminars: 25%Practical work: 50%Self-directed study: 20%Receiving feedback: 5%Studying at our recently refurbished Hillsborough campus you will have access to our state of the art, custom built facilities, including a fully-rigged theatre and sprung floor dance studios. Applicants who are studying for SHU-validated foundation degrees will receive an offer for their designated full time honours degree progression route at Sheffield Hallam University provided that they submit an application via UCAS by the deadline.
