What will I learn?

OVERVIEW

This route is for for candidates who already have some research outputs published, and who will produce more publications during their PhD.

COURSE STRUCTURE

This course is research based. You will independently conduct research into your own topic or a topic that we advertise. Your supervisory team will offer expert guidance throughout your studies and review work in progress.

Each year, you will follow a programme of training and development to enhance your research methods, subject-matter expertise and professional skills.

RESEARCH CULTURE

We undertake innovative and applied research that aims to make sense of the key challenges facing contemporary business and society. Our research is collaborative and action-oriented: we work with businesses, communities and policy makers in order to shape and understand local, national and international economies.

CAREER PROSPECTS

To date, our graduates are engaged in academic careers in universities around the globe, and hold senior strategic posts contributing to the sustainability of international economies and professional communities.

£16,500.00 (US$ 22,466) per year
Annual tuition fees for each academic year must be paid in full at the start of each year. Fees are subject to an annual revision in line with the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) indicative rate. Some research projects will be subject to additional project costs.

Entry requirements

For international students

To apply for a PhD, you should, as a minimum, hold a first or upper second class honours degree of a UK University (or equivalent from an overseas institution) or a qualification which is regarded as equivalent to an honours degree such as professional is should normally be in a discipline that is appropriate to the proposed research. If you do not meet these criteria but have had appropriate research or professional experience at postgraduate level which has resulted in published work, written reports or other appropriate evidence of accomplishment, this will be taken into consideration. International students will be required to demonstrate a sufficiently high standard of English language ability. In order to enter most postgraduate courses the English requirements are: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 575, TOEFL computer-based 230.
