We're committed to supporting you to achieve your career goals, and have a dedicated Careers and Employability team who can assist you to navigate your options beyond Keele.**Foundation Year**If you do not meet the requirements for direct entry onto a degree programme, our foundation year can provide an alternative route into your degree. The course provides preparation for the academic skills required for degree level study, delivering the opportunity to develop the questioning and analytical skills required for progression into your chosen programme. Upon meeting the progression criteria and successfully completing the foundation year, you will automatically progress into your Keele undergraduate degree with the confidence that you have the skills, and knowledge needed to successfully complete your course.**Start Dates**We offer a September and January intake across many of our Foundation Year programmes with our January start point offering a compressed timeframe (January-July) but without the loss of teaching weeks or acceleration of teaching and content delivery. Unless otherwise stated, the UCAS equal consideration deadline for all undergraduate applications, except those with a 15 October deadline is 26 January. For our January 2023 foundation year entry, the application deadline is 20 December 2022. Unfortunately we are unable to offer a January intake for the Veterinary Medicine and Surgery degree with Foundation Year and other health-related Foundation Year degrees. Please ensure that you are viewing the correct UCAS page for the entry point you are interested in. You can switch between the September and January UCAS pages by using the blue 'course options available' button above. We welcome direct applications for the January entry point. It dominates the news and affects our everyday lives, from how we choose those who govern us, to how much tax we pay. In this course you will explore how political systems work and delve into the core issues which shape political decisions and change.Politics is not just a concern of politicians. It is about big issues such as the environment and human rights. Political engagement can change lives and encourage changes in government in the UK and elsewhere. Politics at Keele seeks to understand society and the events and forces which shape it, engaging with questions of power, justice, conflict, legitimacy, accountability, and governance. You will explore why citizens are increasingly disillusioned with politics; what a democracy is; when and how it’s legitimate to protest; and the effects of different models of government. You can tailor your studies to your interests, whether theoretical, historical or oriented to specific issues. You can study abroad for a year, or learn a language as part of your course. Politics at Keele is informed by our research expertise which currently includes environmental politics, security studies, European and American politics, and international relations.
