What will I learn?

Studying Modern Languages provides both practical training in written and spoken language and an extensive introduction to literature and thought written in European languages. As well as learning to write and speak the language(s) fluently, you can study a broad range of literature, or focus your studies on any period from the medieval to the present day. Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students with British A-levels (the British Council may know where students can take A-levels in their country), the International Baccalaureate (IB), and the first year of a bachelor's degree from another university could also be an acceptable alternative. International Baccalaureate with a total score of 38, 39 or 40 points (depending on the course) includes core points. Specific scores may be required in subjects taken at the higher level. European Baccalaureate with an average of 85% or above, with scores of between 8 and 9 in specified subjects will also be considered.
