What will I learn?

Our BA (Hons) Set Design & Production degree is a practical, hands-on programme designed to build an extensive underpinning of production skills; from the concept and research phase, through modelling and visualisation, right through to full scale realisations for stage, screen and events. This re-imagining of how a course connects to its industry, is a result of the union between our set design degree and our theatre production degree. This union brings together the best parts of both courses and provides us with a unique offering that focuses on TV, Film, Theatre and events. It will provide our students with multiple pathways into the industries and will be based on our Carmarthen campus. The course enables our students to explore, design and create exciting new work alongside industry professionals. You will get the chance to collaborate with and gain experience from, experienced practitioners who work on stage, screen and events. This direct contact helps you to form connections within the industry whilst you study. The underlying principle of the Set Design and Production degree is to develop students with a well-rounded and solid knowledge base; students skilled in more than one area and ready to engage in the wider entertainment sector.Throughout the degree, there is flexibility to allow you to specialise and explore your own pathway. The degree offers a variety of work placement opportunities, study abroad and stimulating projects to make certain that you get the right experiences, to support your move into an industry career. Why choose this course?• Practical, hands-on teaching in workshop/studio environments.• Practical assessments with no traditional exams• Learn from and collaborate with experienced industry professionals who currently work on stage, TV, film and events, forging connections along the way.• By the third year, you can specialise in the area of your choice.• Study abroad available in the United States.
