What will I learn?

Two of the most widely spoken languages in the world, Spanish and Portuguese are your gateway to a great many countries and cultures in Europe, Latin America and Africa. Studying a joint programme with us will provide you with intensive training in both the written and spoken aspects of each language, as well as introducing you to an extraordinary range of literature, film and theatre from around the globe. **Why Edinburgh?**We are unique in Scotland in offering students a full academic year abroad within the four-year honours programme, regardless of whether you spend the year studying or working.Another attractive characteristic of this programme is its flexibility. This means that in Years 1 and 2, you will choose option courses drawn from a broad list of disciplines in addition to your core subjects of Spanish and Portuguese. You can, for example, opt to study Basque or Catalan.
