AA in Pre-Secondary Education

USA

2

What will I learn?

The Pre-Secondary Education program is designed as a NKU transfer pathway. Education is the profession of teaching. Teachers act as coaches for the next generation, using interactive discussions and hands-on approaches to help students learn and apply concepts in subjects such as science, mathematics and English. They provide the tools and environment for their students to learn abstract concepts, solve problems and develop critical thought processes.

Secondary school teachers help students delve even more deeply into subjects introduced in elementary and middle school and continue exposing them to more information about the world. Students studying to become secondary school teachers choose a specific concentration, such as English, mathematics, history or biology.

Teachers also play a vital role in the personal development of their students. They often become role models for pre-adolescents and adolescents. What children learn and experience during these years can shape their views of themselves and the world and will affect their later success in their school, work and personal lives.

A bachelor’s degree in education is the minimum educational requirement for entering the teaching profession. This program provides you with the first two years toward completion of your bachelor’s degree. It is for students who intend to transfer to Northern Kentucky University to complete their bachelor's degree.
