With 5,000 plus students, the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts is the largest comprehensive design and arts school in the USA. In the Bachelor of Fine Arts program in art with a concentration in ceramics, students acquire a foundation of skills and knowledge that draws connections between traditional methods and emerging art practices. Students develop the ability to think critically and communicate through their art. Students learn a wide variety of approaches to advance ideas and discourses, including hand building, throwing, slip casting and China painting. The curriculum emphasizes conceptual and material knowledge, interdisciplinary research, and professional mentorship.
