What will I learn?

The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Marketing and Sales program is designed to develop competencies essential for success in marketing and personal selling. By completing this program, students will be better equipped to apply competencies needed for successful performance in a variety of marketing/management occupations, including wholesaling, retailing, professional sales, and entrepreneurship. A Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Marketing is also available.

A marketing professional has many career pathways to choose from including wholesaling, retailing, marketing analysis, advertising, supply chain management, marketing research, public relations and entrepreneurship. This program provides the strong foundation in business that is necessary to be successful in a broad range of careers.

Skills and knowledge gained from the successful completion of this program include the ability to:

Develop strategies for marketing a product or service.
Develop and present a sales presentation utilizing the various steps necessary to sell a good or service.
Contribute to the development of a marketing plan including marketing objectives, marketing mix, marketing strategies, budgetary considerations, and evaluation criteria.
Use basic accounting principles to develop and maintain business financial records.
Describe current management issues, decision-making techniques, and leadership styles.

Career and Employment Outlook:

Employment can be found in a variety of settings in the world of commerce, industry, and merchandising. Marketing professionals may work in purchasing, advertising, direct sales, retailing, manufacturing, and other commercial and industrial firms.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students must have graduation from secondary school equivalent to an American high school is required.

For international students

PC's open admission policy means that anyone can attend Phoenix College who:

Is a graduate of a high school, which is accredited by a regional accrediting association as defined by the United States Office of Education or approved by a State Department of Education or other appropriate state educational agency

Has a high school certificate of equivalency (GED)

Is at least 18 years of age and demonstrates evidence of potential success in the community college

as a transfer student in good standing from another college or university.

TOEFL - A minimum score on the Internet Base test (IBT) - 61, or Paper Base test (PBT) - 500

IELTS - A minimum score of 5.5

Application Deadlines are July 1 for Fall Semester and November 1 for Spring Semester
