What will I learn?

Loyola's interdisciplinary, film and digital media major focuses on the critical analysis, production, and use of film and digital media. Students explore the migration of communication and entertainment media across platforms, from film screens, to mobile devices, to video games.

Located in one of the largest media markets in the world, Loyola’s Film and Digital Media program offers students the opportunity to gain real-world experience working with a variety of filmmakers, digital media producers, and scholars. Screenwriters, new-media artists, and other professionals in the industry, join with the full-time faculty to help students learn the latest techniques and theory. Students are also within easy reach of media companies for internships and hands-on experience and ultimately job opportunities.

Students will:

  • Develop fundamental knowledge and skills essential in media production, exhibition, and distribution.
  • Connect theory, analysis, and hands-on work in the development of original ideas in film and digital media.
  • Identify their aesthetic vision as a creator of media.
  • Gain technical proficiency in audio and visual skills, and specialization in advanced production skills.
