What will I learn?

Instrumental music education majors are required to complete class instrument courses as listed below. A student who principally performs on a woodwind, brass, percussion, or string instrument normally will replace one class in the category of his or her principal instrument with guitar class (by advisement). Academic electives will include courses in the natural and behavioral sciences and the humanities.Piano principals may be accepted into this degree program provided they possess sufficient experience and/or aptitude for learning band and orchestral instruments. To graduate, piano principals must complete, at a minimum, Piano Level VIII. Requirements for each level appear at the end of the Undergraduate Programs section of the Catalog Announcements.

Entry requirements

For international students

International students applying to Catholic University must have successfully completed a university preparatory course of study at a secondary school (a minimum of 12 years of primary and secondary school training comprising the equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma).

Acceptable Test Scores

TOEFL - 80 Internet (should have at least 20 out of 30 in each category); 150 Paper; 213 Computer.

IELTS - 6.5 (individual test module scores are also reviewed in addition to the overall score to ensure proficiency)

PTE - 58

Application deadline for Fall semester (Sept. to Dec.): Nov. 1 - Early Action and Early Decision I application deadline; Feb. 1 - Regular Decision and Early Decision II application deadline.
