What will I learn?

The B.S.E. in Middle School Education prepares graduates to work as middle school teachers in the areas of language arts, mathematics, science (STEM), and social studies.

With the “pick 2” option, candidates select two concentrations that will determine the degree plan focus of study and 4-8 licensure certification areas. The middle school degrees meet the academic requirements for licensure in the state of Arkansas. Being a critical shortage area, employment prospects at the middle school level are high. Courses are taught face-to face on the SAU campus as well as online, but learning goes beyond the classroom with a variety of unique field experiences.

The Bachelor of Science in Education requires a total of 120 hours. Some of the courses required for a degree in middle school education include:

For students from United States

Students must have official transcripts listing courses, examinations, grades, and marks from your high school or college/university.

For international students

Students must have official transcripts and marks from your high school or college/university. We require a 2.0 minimum GPA for all incoming freshmen Students.

Minimum English Requirements (must meet one of the following)

A score of 500 or higher on the written TOEFL

A score of 173 or higher on the computerized TOEFL

A score of 61 or higher on the internet-based TOEFL

A score of Band 5.5 (overall) on the IELTS

A score of 43 or higher on PTE (Pearson Test of English)

A score of 90 or higher on Duolingo (Accepting Temporarily)
