What will I learn?

The Department of Psychology, Counseling, and Special Education offers the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in psychology. This major prepares students for graduate study in psychology and for careers in psychology-related fields. A graduate with a major in psychology should possess the following competencies:

1. understanding of basic psychological principles within the sub-disciplines of psychology,

2. knowledge of research design and statistics and their application in the study of human behavior and

3. promotion of the scientific method to solve problems and enhancement of critical thinking skills.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have completed a high school. Other English Language Requirements: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Required scores: 80 (Internet-based TOEFL), 550 (paper-based TOEFL) or 6.5 IELTS.

For international students

International applicant must have a completion of a course of study equivalent to that required of a U. S. citizen. For Freshman Admission, high school transcripts need only be evaluated to determine U.S. high school equivalency.

The applicant must be adequately proficient in English to pursue a course of study at the University.

  • A score of at least 550 paper based on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • A score of at least 213 computer based on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • A score of at least 79 Internet based on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • IELTS: Overall band 6.0 or Higher
