About this course

What will I learn?

Sacred Heart’s BA in sports communication & media provides a combination of hands-on production with challenging history and theory courses designed to blend the study and practice of sports media. Students in the sports communication & media (SCM) program at Sacred Heart receive intensive training in the art and craft of digital storytelling across multiple platforms from traditional television to contemporary social media. Sports communication & media majors will graduate prepared for careers as responsible media professionals with well-developed critical thinking skills. SHU is located in the geographic center of the sports media industry, and students are supported by experienced faculty with industry connections, which provides students with exciting internship opportunities at nearby sports media companies such as ESPN and NBC Sports.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have completed the equivalent of a United States secondary-school education (approximately twelve years of formal education) and have the appropriate diploma or satisfactory results on leaving examinations.

For all non-native English speakers, an official English language proficiency examination is required. The following examinations and minimum scores are accepted:

  • TOEFL 80+

  • TOEFL Essentials: 8.5
  • Academic IELTS 6.5
  • Duolingo 110
