What will I learn?

The Bachelor of Arts in Deaf Education is designed to develop highly effective teachers who are equipped to work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a variety of educational settings. Pre-service teachers in the program will learn a comprehensive and balanced perspective of students’ varying communication modes (sign and/or listening and spoken language), language and academic proficiency levels, use of assistive hearing devices (hearing aids or cochlear implants), family dynamics, and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Entry requirements

For international students

Application must have completed a high school.

English Language Proficiency:

A minimum TOEFL score of 79 internet-based (550 paper-based or 213 computer-based); A minimum overall Duolingo score of 110 is recommended for admission. Individual programs may require higher scores and all sub scores will be considered; A score of 3 on the College Board Advanced Placement – International English Language (AP-IEL); AP grades range from 5 high to 1 low; 3 equals “Qualified”; or A band score of 6.5 on the University of Cambridge IELTS (International English Language Testing System); band scores range from 9 high to 1 low; 6.5 lies between 6 “competent user” and 7 “good user.”
