What will I learn?

Through CMU’s geography program, you’ll explore the relationship and interactions between humans and their environment. A degree in geography will prepare you for a career making decisions about urban and regional planning, resource utilization and preservation, mitigation of natural hazards, and homeland security.

Environmental and land use planners and geographers specialize in developing plans and programs for the use of land. Their input and expert geographic assessments help create strong, healthy communities, accommodate population growth, and revitalize physical facilities in towns, cities, counties and metropolitan areas.

Graduates may wish to enhance their qualifications upon completion of the concentration with graduate study in these areas.
