CCSU's BA in Psychological Science prepares graduates for several career paths by helping them develop a solid knowledge base in psychological science, scientific inquiry and critical thinking skills, communication skills, sociocultural and international awareness, ethical and social responsibility, and applied knowledge in professional settings.

Students are equipped to pursue civic engagement, employment, and/or advanced degrees. The program facilitates life-long learning among students of diverse backgrounds.

Learning Outcomes

Identify, describe, and apply key concepts, principles, and overarching themes in psychology.

Interpret, design, and conduct basic and applied research.

Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills in various formats and for various purposes.

Examine theories, philosophies, research, and cultures from diverse standpoints including those that do not represent mainstream western perspectives.

Apply ethical standards to evaluate psychological science and practice and adopt values that build community at local, national, and global levels

Identify and develop skills and experiences relevant to achieving selected career goals.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have successfully completed secondary education.

English language proficiency requirement

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Information on the TOEFL may be obtained from Educational Testing Services. The three versions of the TOEFL that a prospective student may take are listed here with minimum acceptable scores:

  • Internet: minimum score of 79
  • Computer: minimum score of 213
  • Paper: minimum score of 550

The International English Language Testing System Exam (IELTS) is also accepted. A minimum band score of 6.5 is required for admissions consideration.

Duolingo English Test (DET) - minimum score of 95

Application deadline: International students should apply by April 1 for the fall semester and November 1 for the spring semester.
