The Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology requires a total of 120 credit hours, of which 32 must be earned from sociology courses. In addition to required sociology courses, CU Denver has a set of core university requirements for all undergraduates. These include courses in the humanities, social sciences, behavioral sciences, and natural/physical sciences. CU Denver also requires that students demonstrate competency in mathematics and writing, either through testing or coursework. Students can earn a Bachelor of Arts in sociology through on campus courses, online courses, or a combination of on campus and online courses. Of the 32 credit hours of coursework required in sociology, at least 16 credit hours must be from upper division courses (courses numbered in the 3000s or 4000s). Within the major, 20 credits are earned in required sociology courses, leaving 12 credits of electives (minimum) to be earned in sociology. A minimum grade of "C-" or better must be earned in the sociology electives (F’s are not averaged in).

Sociology is an academic discipline involving the scientific study of social behavior, human groups, and social institutions. A major in sociology provides excellent background for careers in a wide range of fields as well as entry into postgraduate PhD and professional programs. Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have completed their high school equivalent qualification, as well as any secondary school coursework completed prior to enrollment in the US.

Applicants to CU Denver must provide proof of English language proficiency (ELP) in order to be considered for full admission.

Minimum TOEFL IBT Total Score: 79; TOEFL Sub scores (Reading: 18, Listening: 17, Speaking: 20, Writing: 17).

Minimum IELTS Overall Band Score: 6.5, IELTS Sub scores as 5.5.

Minimum PTE Academic Score Accepted: 58.
