The New Media Art concentration in Studio Art is an interdisciplinary and collaborative program that focuses on the human relationship with technology, as an emergent tool for creating contemporary art. This practice is rooted in the historical traditions of avant-garde and experimental art-making and responds to the rapid pace of technological development. Areas of study in New Media Art include experimental filmmaking, generative art, digital fabrication, performance, virtual and augmented reality and experimental sound. Earn the Studio Art degree with a concentration in New Media Art for a program that is committed to emergent technological and interdisciplinary research across a broad spectrum.The program includes experimental filmmaking, the creation of generative art, digital fabrication, performance, virtual and augmented reality, and experimental sound.As emerging contemporary artists, students in New Media Art engage in a range of research, theory, and practice as makers who consider a range of contemporary venues. This includes the gallery, museum, internet, microcinema, performance site, festival, or experimental venues. UNT's proximity to Dallas and Fort Worth also offers a wealth of experiences and resources.

Entry requirements

For international students

Beginning freshman from international high school:- Graduation from a high school recognized by the home country ministry of education, Official transcripts/diplomas (in native language and English) showing all courses and marks of final three years of secondary school Students with a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher are guaranteed admission to UNT. Students' GPAs will be standardized on a 4.0 GPA scale once transcripts are submitted. Beginning freshman from U.S. high school:- Minimum of three years and graduation from an accredited high school in the U.S., Official transcripts, showing rank in class through at least junior year, plus graduation date, U.S. graduates only. Send SAT or ACT scores
