What will I learn?

The Theater Department provides instruction in both the theory and practice of theater performance and production.

The department’s Minor allows for study of theater practices overall, while the Theater Majors allow the student a more focused path of study in either Performance or Production.

The department seeks to enable students to succeed in both academic and vocational pursuits by working towards the following objectives:

  • To enable students to succeed in academic and vocational pursuits;
  • To prepare students for a lifelong service to God and to the world through the perspective of theater arts;
  • To be a foundation in learning aspects of theater arts, and to help students structure their talents for a career in theater;
  • To provide a quality learning environment in which students can learn about and engage in the theater arts.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students must have completed Secondary school. English language requirements: TOEFL - Minimum of 61 IBT (or 500 Paper Based), or IELTS - Minimum 6.0 Band Score. Otherwise, 5.5 Band Score with 5.5 in each section, or SAT I - Reading and Writing of 550, or ACT - English 22, or AP English Language and Composition - 3 or higher, or AP English Literature and Composition - 3 or higher, or GTEC (Global Test of English Communication) - 1075, or IB Eng A Language and Literature - HL4, or IB Eng A Literature - HL4, or Fresno State's American English Institute - Advanced Level, or ELS Language Centers - Level 112, or FLS International Language School - Level 16, or TLC The Language Company - Level 9, or UC Davis IEPP - Level 800, or UCLA Extension - Level 6, or Pearson's Test of English - 45.

For international students

Applicants must have completion of high school transcript.

English proficiency

TOEFL score report of 61 (or higher on the IBT) or 500 (or higher on the IBT); IELTS score report of 5 or higher, PTE score report of 52 or higher.
