As a geospatial specialist, you'll use spatial data for problem-solving that can’t be done with traditional maps and charts. The GISci program requires strong mathematics background and analytical skills.
Two state-of-the-art labs provide you with technologies such as Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, Global Positioning System (GPS) and remote sensing. We prepare you for a training partnership involving faculty and students in Vietnam and a multi-year project aimed at rebuilding Iraq’s GSIS infrastructure.
Career paths
Students who complete our B.S. degree will have higher-order skills involving the analysis of geospatial data and will be capable of communicating findings with larger audiences. They will be well-versed in general GSIS knowledge and have the competency necessary to utilize hardware and software for the planning, development and maintenance of spatial and non-spatial databases.
