What will I learn?

As a CIT graduate, you will become an integral part of tomorrow's computer information technology industry. Technical skills and professional leadership competencies continue to make our graduates distinctive and highly marketable in meeting the needs of employers today.

This will be accomplished by:

  • Delivering a market-driven curriculum that meets the needs of undergraduate and graduate students and employers
  • Performing the highest quality teaching, scholarship, and research with up-to-date techniques and facilities
  • Engaging students in active learning and critical thinking
  • Mentoring students in research, international programs, service, and experiential learning

Program Educational Objectives

Three to five years after graduating, CIT alumni will:

  • Design, implement, and evaluate solutions to meet the IT needs of industry.
  • Provide leadership and project management for IT-related projects and services.
  • Expand their IT knowledge to add value to an organization.

CIT Student Outcomes

Upon completion of the B.S. degree, CIT students will have attained:

(a) An ability to apply knowledge of computing and mathematics appropriate to the program's student outcomes and to the discipline.

(b) An ability to analyze a problem, and identify and define the computing and business requirements appropriate to its solution.

(c) An ability to design, implement, and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs.

(d) An ability to function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal.

(e) An understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities.

(f) An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

(g) An ability to analyze the local and global impact of computing on individuals, organizations, and society.

(h) Recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in continuing professional development.

(I) An ability to use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice.

(j) An ability to use and apply current technical concepts and practices in the core information technologies.

(k) An ability to identify and analyze user needs and take them into account in the selection, creation, evaluation and administration of computer-based systems.

(l) An ability to effectively integrate IT-based solutions into the user environment.

(m) An understanding of best practices and standards and their application.

(n) An ability to assist in the creation of an effective project plan.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have completed or will complete secondary school by the time of enrollment; No grade point average guarantees admission to IUPUI. We look for applicants who have demonstrated a "B" average or above average grades, with strong grades in math and science.

For international students

Students must have earned a diploma from an accredited high school before you enroll at IUPUI.
