What will I learn?

Geography Emphasis: The Geography emphasis requires 1) completion of the university's Pitt State Pathways requirements and 2) selection of a minor, second major, or emphasis in International Studies or Political Science. Options available within the Geography emphasis: General Geography, Environmental Geography and Sustainability, Geographic Information Systems, Urban Development.

Political Science Emphasis: The Political Science emphasis requires 1) completion of the university's Pitt State Pathways requirements and 2) selection of a minor, second major, or emphasis in Geography or International Studies. Options available within the Political Science emphasis: Pre-Law.

International Studies Emphasis: The International Studies emphasis requires 1) completion of the university's PittState Pathways requirements: 2) selection of a minor, second major, or an emphasis in Geography or Political Science; and 3) completion of 12 hours of modern languages or documented proficiency in a non-English language.

The Pitt State Pathway requirements consist of 40-41 credit hours of course work. All baccalaureate students must successfully pass these requirements. Courses meeting Pitt State Pathway requirements may also satisfy major, minor, emphasis or program requirements.

Entry requirements

For international students

High School Academic Records: A minimum GPA (grade point average) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in high school and have earned a high school diploma

International College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in an accredited international post-secondary institution (college/university)

U.S. College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) if transferring from an accredited U.S. college with at least 24 credit hours (approximately one year of college work)

English Language Requirement

TOEFL score of at least 68 (iBT) is required. In addition, a minimum score of 15 is required in each section (internet).

IELTS: Overall score of 6.0 with a minimum score of 5.0. in each band of the IELTS is required. If a lower score is earned in any of the five band scores, the overall score cannot be accepted.

PTE: Overall score of 47.

Application Deadline: Fall Semester – June 1st, Spring Semester – October 15th.
