What will I learn?

The program’s curriculum includes broad foundations of knowledge in the fields of biochemistry, microbiology, human anatomy and physiology, management, education, communication and psychology. In-depth course work is required in the fundamentals of nutrition, life cycle nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, cultural and community nutrition, food science and food service management.

Graduates with a concentration in human nutrition meet the educational requirements for acceptance into a CADE accredited dietetic internship or coordinated program. After successful completion of the DPD, students are required to complete an internship or pre-professional program and receive a passing score on the dietetic registration examination to become a registered dietitian. Program graduates should be able to work effectively as professionals within their communities to improve the quality of food and nutrition for all people.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Undergraduate applicants who have no previous work at the postsecondary level must have at least a 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) from a secondary school and must also meet the criteria for admission to a postsecondary school in the applicant’s home country.

For international students

Undergraduate applicants who have no previous work at the postsecondary level must have at least a 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) from a secondary school and must also meet the criteria for admission to a postsecondary school in the applicant’s home country.

A minimum TOEFL score of 61 (Internet-based) or 500 (paper-based) is required. or IELTS 6.0 overall band score.
