What will I learn?

Meteorology is the study of the atmosphere-the blanket of air covering the earth. Meteorologists study the atmosphere: physical characteristics, motions, and processes, and the way it affects the rest of our environment. The most popular application of this knowledge is in forecasting the weather. However, weather information and meteorological research is also applied in air pollution control, agriculture, air and sea transportation, defense, and the study of trends in climate such as global warming or ozone depletion. More information about what meterologist do is on the website of Atmospheric Sciences.

Many meteorology graduates find employment with the (federal government) National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-National Weather Service and the Department of Defense. Employment is also found with media outlets, research organizations, and private consulting firms.
