Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Bioproducts

USA

What will I learn?

The forest products profession has traditionally focused on sustainable and renewable structural products. Students majoring in sustainable bioproducts for a future career in forest products will have a strong foundation in products, manufacturing, sales, trading and fundamental aspects of timber-derived products, materials and structures. The curriculum also incorporates contemporary new products to include wood and non?wood products that come from agricultural residues, other natural fibers, natural?based adhesives, non?wood materials and other contemporary engineered products. Additionally, specialty chemicals such as paints and adhesives from natural resources and bio?based energy such as that related to wood pellets, bio?oil and wood alcohol are increasingly important with respect to sustainable industrial production. In addition to utilizing timber and agricultural residues, the discipline seeks to make housing and other structures last longer via preservative treatments and better construction techniques.
