What will I learn?

The Environmental and Safety Management (ESM) major prepares students for a career in safety and/or environmental management and supervision. The ESM major has a focus on both general and specific aspects of environmental and safety practice and compliance common in industry. The curriculum emphasizes current technology, leadership skills, ethics and professionalism. Graduates of the program have many career opportunities available in the public or private sector. The ESM program has its own leadership council and sponsors the student chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). The ESM program has an outdoor and indoor safety lab with access to extensive safety/environmental related equipment. Faculty in the ESM program all have extensive safety / environmental experience as well as associated degrees. ESM majors have access to a variety of safety related scholarships through Builders Association, ASSE and others.

Entry requirements

For international students

High School Academic Records: A minimum GPA (grade point average) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in high school and have earned a high school diploma

International College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in an accredited international post-secondary institution (college/university)

U.S. College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) if transferring from an accredited U.S. college with at least 24 credit hours (approximately one year of college work)

English Language Requirement

TOEFL score of at least 68 (iBT) is required. In addition, a minimum score of 15 is required in each section (internet).

IELTS: Overall score of 6.0 with a minimum score of 5.0. in each band of the IELTS is required. If a lower score is earned in any of the five band scores, the overall score cannot be accepted.

PTE: Overall score of 47.

Application Deadline: Fall Semester – June 1st, Spring Semester – October 15th.
