Maryville’s Mathematics Education degree focuses on teaching grades 9-12 and prepares its prospective teachers to understand the special joys and challenges of working with adolescents. Located in a major metropolitan area, Maryville provides secondary education degree students extensive and intensive field experiences in secondary schools throughout the region.
Students who wish to teach mathematics at the high school level (grades 9-12) enter the secondary teacher preparation program. The program involves extensive professional education courses with a strong grounding in content area coursework. All teacher preparation programs also involve extensive experiences in partner schools.

To be considered for admission, applicants should have: A high school diploma with a minimum of 22 units of credits; A high school grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale). Applicants who do not meet the criteria listed above will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may be asked to submit a personal statement before an admission decision is made. The following are acceptable means of providing proof of English proficiency: TOEFL: 69 overall with no sub score lower than 15, or IELTS: 6.0 with no sub score lower than 5, or DET: 95, or PTE Academic: 47 or ELS Centre: Level 112 completed with a 2.5 grade or better. Application deadline: June 1st for the Fall semester and by November 1st for the Spring semester.
