What will I learn?

The partnership between Fontbonne University and Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College allows you to complete your first two years of college at Fontbonne and then seamlessly transfer your credit into a nursing program to complete the bachelor's of science in nursing (BSN).

Nursing Program Highlights

  • Complete 55 credit hours of prerequisite and general education coursework at Fontbonne.
  • Achieve a 3.0 or better GPA and be eligible to apply for admission to the nursing program at Barnes-Jewish College after your first semester. (This is a popular program — there may be a waiting period before admission.)
  • Once accepted, complete your remaining prerequisites at Fontbonne with a GPA of 3.0 (cumulative undergraduate and core prerequisites).
  • At Barnes-Jewish College, you will complete a full-time, five-term program composed of 66 credit hours of nursing coursework.
  • Barnes-Jewish daytime classes are held during summer, fall, and spring terms. Students must be available a minimum of 30-40 hours per week. Course work and simulation labs take place during the day or evenings, and clinical experiences take place during the day, evenings, and/or weekends.
  • Graduate prepared to care for patients and their families in hospitals, the community, or other settings, or pursue a higher degree in nursing.
  • To pursue an RN, eligible graduates must also pass the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX).

Entry requirements

For students from United States

All undergraduate programs require a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale from high school (equivalent to a 78% on a 100% scale). Other English Language Requirements: ELS: Completion of Level 112; Inlingua: Completion of ESL 300, 301, 302; Kaplan – Completion of Higher Intermediate level; Completion of English composition one at a US college or university; OR: COMPASS ESL Language Score 260+ (this option is only available for students in St. Louis who have applied to the university. The complimentary institutional test may only be taken one time for admission purposes).

For international students

First-year students those degree seeking students who are graduates of an accredited high school and who have not previously enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university with GPA of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale as determined by Fontbonne. Completed the following recommended core, requirements: Four units of English, Three units of mathematics, Three units of social science, Three units of science (one must include a lab), One unit of visual/performing arts, One unit of practical arts, and One unit of physical education. English Language Requirements: TOEFL score 65(iBT), IELTS score 5.5
