The Special Education Program at the University of Memphis is designed to facilitate the development of professional practitioners and leaders with skills specific to meeting the diverse needs of individuals with exceptionalities. Special Education programs include both educator preparation and behavior therapist BCBA development options. Additionally advanced terminal degrees are offered for those seeking leadership roles in both program areas. Teacher licensure in Special Education is offered in one of two concentration areas. Those seeking to teach students with high incidence disabilities such as learning disabilities may seek a license in Modified Special Education. Those seeking to teach students with more involved disabilities such as more severe intellectual disabilities may seek licensure in Comprehensive Special Education.

Entry requirements
For international students
A Baccalaureate or Masters Degree The applicant must provide an unofficial transcript showing that a U.S. bachelors degree or its equivalent was awarded by an accredited college or university or is expected to be awarded within one term. If accepted to the University of Memphis the student must provide an official transcript by the end of their first semester. In addition transcripts from any other college or university attended may be requested. Only transcripts received directly from an issuing institution are considered official. Personal copies are not acceptable as official documents. If you are a UofM undergraduate student applying to Graduate School at UofM you do not need to request that an official transcript be sent to Graduate Admissions. GPA 3.04.0 cumulative GPA. Departments may set higher standards.
