Theoretical statistics concerns the study and development of the mathematical, computational, and philosophical foundations of statistics. With an advanced degree in this field, you will develop the ability to apply complex mathematical theories, computational techniques and algorithms to solve economic, scientific, engineering, physics and business-related problems.You will have many opportunities for research and hands-on experiences, with special opportunities to work with our top faculty on nation-leading research in the areas of bioinformatics, combinatorics, differential equations, algebra and mathematics education.

Entry requirements

For international students

All international graduate school applicants must satisfy the following criteria to be considered for graduate admission to University of Idaho: Have earned or will have earned a bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a recognized accrediting body, a ministry of education or an official quality assurance organization. The bachelor's degree should be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree consisting of four years of study (120 semester credit hours or 180 quarter hours). An official academic record from all post-secondary education institutions attended is required. This takes time so start this early in your application process.
