What will I learn?

As a PhD student, you will gain broad knowledge in the field of biochemistry, as well as expert guidance in biotechnology and environmental chemistry. Classes are typically small, affording superb opportunities for interaction with the faculty and access to state-of-the art equipment and computational resources. Our program provides individualized attention and unique research opportunities. This full-time program takes approximately five years to complete. You will be eligible for graduate assistantships for research and/or teaching activities.

Entry requirements

For international students

Admission to doctoral study requires demonstrated scholastic competence and potential for independent research and scholarship. Admission can be offered either to those who have completed only the bachelors degree (the “direct option”) or to those who have completed both bachelors and masters degrees.

We require a minimum score of 72 IBT on the TOEFL or BAND 6.0 on the IELTS for entrance to any program and a minimum score of 79 IBT on the TOEFL or BAND 6.5 on the IELTS for consideration for a teaching assistantship.

The application deadline for fall term is March 15 and spring term is Jan 17.
