What will I learn?

The Ph.D. in Education, Higher Education Administration, prepares students for positions as university faculty and institutional researchers

The Ph.D. program is 81 credit hours. Beginning Spring Semester 2017, we welcome you to take up to six credits of required courses (two courses), no exceptions, as a non-degree seeking student prior to admission. Any hours can be transferred into your program of study if you are admitted within four years of taking the courses. Classes are delivered either on campus, online, or through blended format (online and audio conferencing). Ph.D. students have an extended on campus residency which typically requires one to two years of work on campus.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

A bachelor's degree from an accredited or recognized school is required. A cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 on previous coursework is required for full admission (3.25 for interdisciplinary program applicants).

For international students

Applicants must have a master's degree from an accredited institution.

GRE: 151 in verbal, 153 quantitative; 4.0 in analytical writing

We require a minimum score of 80 for the online TOEFL exam, with minimum scores of 20 in each subset. For the IELTS exam, we require a minimum overall score of 6.5, with minimum scores of 6 in each subset.
