What will I learn?

Our master's program in school counseling, which can be taken in partnership with the certificate of advanced study, is designed to prepare you to meet New York State standards for school counselors for the provisional certificate and the permanent certificate. This program seeks to educate counselors to assist K–12 youth to develop skills involving educational, vocational and personal-social needs. Through our program, you will learn how to apply a diverse repertoire of helping strategies and techniques, conceptualize and implement a comprehensive school counseling program, and engage in evaluation of your efforts.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent (i.e., 30 mathematics-related credit hours) from an accredited institution and an interest in math education at the graduate level. A minimum 3.0 undergraduate cumulative GPA is expected.

For international students

You must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.

TOEFL minimum score is a 250 for a computer based test, 600 for a paper based test and 79 for the Internet based test
IELTS minimum score is 6.5 overall
PTE minimum score is 55 overall
