What will I learn?

Family Sciences emphasizes the integration of individual development, family development, and family economics and management.

One Big Blue Family...

Family Sciences are similar to psychology and sociology in that the focus is on understanding and improving lives, but is less well known than those disciplines because it is a relatively new scientific perspective. The family science perspective is unique in its emphasis on the role intimate and family relations play in shaping human experiences.

In the Family Sciences program, you may choose from among courses that focus on developmental theory, lifespan human development, family system dynamics, family intervention, family economics and management, consumer economics, and management of resources.

Careers

With a bachelor’s in Family Sciences, you’ll be prepared to help individuals and families through careers in many local, state, and national settings across public and private sectors.
