Freshman Admit Nursing (FAN), BSN

USA

4

What will I learn?

The School of Nursing offers a baccalaureate nursing program with a freshman admission concentration in the Prelicensure track for students who want to prepare for a dynamic, exciting career in nursing. The curriculum provides a strong scientific base of study with a diverse array of clinical experiences and unique opportunities to work with vulnerable and under-served populations through a community-based approach. It supports engagement with the community throughout the nursing major by nurturing and building relationships with community agencies consistently over time through an innovative home-basing of students in a designated community for the entire length of the nursing program. The curriculum also provides a strong foundation for graduate study in nursing. Upon graduation from the program, students will sit for the NCLEX-RN licensing exam.

The Freshman Admit Nursing (FAN) concentration of the Prelicensure BSN track is for first-time in college (FTIC) students and offers fall admission annually. The program is cohort-based, and each future cohort will enroll up to 50 new student each fall semester. Once admitted into the FAN track, progression is according to a specific course sequence, which cannot be accelerated. Please note, students who begin the FAN track cannot leave it and then later apply for admission to the Regular Prelicensure B.S.N. track.
