What will I learn?

The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department offers a graduate certificate in engineering management. The program is designed for professionals who work in an engineering organization and are interested in improving their technical management skills and knowledge. The program consists of four graduate courses that are available through distance education.

The 12-credit hour graduate certificate is earned by completing ENMG 533, ENMG 534, ENMG 536, and ENMG 539 with a grade of B or better. The hours may be utilized toward a graduate degree later if the student meets all other degree requirements.

Applicants must meet the minimum admission requirements and be admitted to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Graduate School.

The program consists of four graduate courses that are available through distance education.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

A grade point average (GPA) of 2.70 or higher for undergraduate work or GPA 3.20 or higher for prior graduate work is required.

For international students

An academic prerequisite for the certificate program is a bachelor’s degree from a Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredited or equivalent university or college.

An applicant requesting admission to the Graduate School may be required to submit results of the TOEFL or IELTS. Minimum score requirements for admission to the Graduate School are:

  • a total score of 80 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT),
  • a 6.5 overall band score on the IELTS.
