What will I learn?

This non-thesis, terminal degree is designed to provide students with a specialized qualification better suited for the pursuit of professional careers in federal, state, or local government.

Career Opportunities:

The GJSS program targets students intending to pursue largely non-academic, governmental careers as practitioners, whether it be in the field of homeland security, law enforcement, military service, or as analysts within the U.S. foreign, intelligence, or defense communities.

Career Placements:

Many have gone on to careers in US government agencies, the military, or decided to pursue doctoral studies.

Entry requirements

For international students

Prospective international students must have the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an approved institution. Usually this is a minimum of four years of study beyond grade 12.
A grade point average equivalent to a U.S. grade of “B” or better is required.

TOEFL Minimum score: 550; TOEFLI Minimum score: 80; IELTS Minimum score: 7.0
